What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda’s main goal is to understand the persons unique bio-energies, imbalances and work on bringing balance by using suitable  diet, herbs, body work treatments, Ayurveda detox (Panchakarma), Mediation, Yoga, to restore the original state of doshas (bio-energies) for perfect health. Hence the consultation addresses person’s health concerns from physical, mental as well as emotional perspective. The focus is on person’s present health challenges, family health history as well as Genetic predispositions. During the typical consultation, the Ayurvedic physician assesses a complete health history and performs a physical evaluation as well as psychological, emotional evaluation. This includes, pulse analysis (nadi pariksha), as well as assessment of tongue, eyes, skin, nails etc. Based upon the assessment a complete multi-modality therapeutic approach is used for suggesting a personalized body, mind, spirit health enhancing recommendation. This includes recommendations on Dietary modifications, Stress Management, Yoga, Meditation, Exercise programs, Emotional healing, Therapeutic life style changes, customized Nutritional and herbal supplements.

I provide insight and education on a proactive approach to treat current conditions with fresh foods & diet, lifestyle, time-management, herbs, physical exercise, rest & relaxation, meditation for stress reduction, energy balancing & regular seasonal cleansing.

All recommendations are based on your individual characteristics and doshic imbalances. This is not a mystical science, but a common sense approach to counterbalance and treat your unique

qualities that are causing illness at the root, rather than masking the symptoms with a synthetic substance.

Ayurveda helps us return to the rhythms of nature while living in a modern world.

Karla is based out of Phoenix, AZ but comes into Chicagoland area in the Summers to offer her Yoga Teacher Training, see clients, and teach workshops.

During the initial consultation, an overall Ayurvedic assessment will be done which typically lasts for about 90 minutes duration.  At this time, dosha type as well as the underlying qualities which create an imbalance will be discovered. Based on the evaluation of your Ayurvedic body constitution and pulse analysis, highly customized Ayurvedic Diet and Nutritional plan as well as personalized lifestyle suggestions are provided. As per your need, any or all of specific food recommendations, customized herbal formulations, daily self care practices, recipe for appropriate foods, yoga postures and variations, yogic breathing techniques, meditation practices, detox etc. are recommended.

Since the consultation is in-depth and a lot of information and specific recommendations are provided, the client receives a personal folder for taking notes and capturing the specific recommendations.

Follow-up Consultations

The first follow up consultation is approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the initial consultation. This gives sufficient time for implementing the recommendations. During this visit, further steps for moving forward will also be discussed for achieving perfect health and balance.  Ayurveda believes in taking step-by-step approach to achieve the healthy life, so further follow up visits are scheduled based upon clients individual needs.
