As May approaches, we look to honor yet another one of our lovely therapists, Shannon Rusnak!
Shannon began working at SoderWorld about 2 years ago and has made a great addition to the team! Her bright and bubbly personality is highly contagious, and you can't help but laugh or smile when she's around!
Before becoming interested in working as a massage therapist, Shannon was attending college where she was studying to become a Nurse. She always knew she wanted to help people, but nursing had its challenges. She explained that no matter how much she wanted to become a nurse, that she just couldn't stomach it. Her now-husband actually convinced her to look into practicing massage because it would still allow her to help others heal and find some relief. She then went on to studying massage at Redfern Training Systems in Darien, IL.
After she completed her massage training, Shannon went on to travel and work with her husband. He was a professional tennis player at the time. While they traveled Shannon made a living by using her skills to help other tennis players achieve relief through massage. After doing this for 6 years, Shannon and her husband decided it was time to make their way back home and began working in the surrounding suburbs of Chicago. Shannon went on to work at Kohler Waters Spa for 12 years before joining us at SoderWorld!
Over the years, Shannon has worked hard to better her skills and has studied many massage modalities. The modalities that she is certified in are Sports Invigoration, Thai Yoga, Lomi Lomi, Reiki (Reiki Master), Hot Stone, Hot Shell, Prenatal, Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sol Flo (Esalen), Lymphatic, and more! Shannon also began her studies in Cranial Sacral this year, and is on her way to completing all 13 certification classes! This is also one of her favorite modalities to perform, along with Esalen and Lomi Lomi!
Shannon's favorite part about being a massage therapist is her ability to help others and educate her clients. With 17 years of experience, she explains that she is still in love with her profession and allows her to continue to help her clients learn how to feel and be better. Shannon is very caring and kind, and we are so glad to have her as part of our team!
