Therapist of the Month - September 2021

We are happy to announce that MaryRose Plante is our Therapist of the Month for September.

MaryRose has been practicing Massage Therapy since 2002 and has extensive experience in advanced Deep Tissue, Swedish, pre- and post - surgical massage, acute and chronic pain/injury, athletics and sports massage, prenatal, Ashiatsu, Thai, Reiki, Cranial Sacral Therapy, and Raindrop Technique.

When she was five years old her mother was having a gallbladder attack that was presenting with severe back pain. MaryRose would rub her back to help bring her comfort and support. While gallbladders are out of a MT's scope of practice, MaryRose found at a young age how much she loved helping people feel better. It is no surprise that when MaryRose grew up she choose to become a Massage Therapy Specialist. Whether it is helping people relax, energetically balance, or release tightness and trauma in the muscles, MaryRose treats all her clients with great skill and compassion.

MaryRose states, "I feel very lucky to have found a profession that lets me enhance the lives of my clients on a daily basis".

One of her favorite therapies is Ashiatsu, which is a deep therapeutic massage performed with the therapists feet while using overhead bars for balance. With Ashiatsu, the therapists feet are able to apply deeper pressure like you would get from a Deep Tissue massage, but with a broader stroke, eliminating the pokey sensation of elbows and fingers.

Benefits of Ashiatsu:

  • Less pain receiving deep tissue massage. The feet cover a larger surface area and is more comfortable than pointy elbows and thumbs.

  • Utilizing SLOW broad compressive movements induces deep relaxation quickly.

  • Many of the movements help to elongate the spine. These movements dramatically stretch the shortened muscles along the spine, relieving muscular discomfort and opening up space in the intervertebral foramen.

  • Ashiatsu increases blood/lymph circulation quickly which detoxifies the body at a much faster rate.

  • It's both relaxing and therapeutic at the same time, which makes it great for both spa or clinical experiences.

  • Less inflammation and soreness post massage compared to deep neuromuscular work.

  • Clients receive more massage benefits in a shorter amount of time and maintain results for a longer period.

  • The biggest benefit of the Ashiatsu technique is that after a few treatments it will help improve the client's posture and movement while relieving pain, improving bodily functions and creating a state of well-being.

Throughout the month of September, MaryRose would like to offer 10% off on Ashiatsu Treatments!

All you need to do is mention this blog post at the time of booking your appointment, and this discount is yours! This discount is only available for Ashiatsu sessions booked with MaryRose during the month of September 2021.

Testimonials:

"My 9 year old daughter is professional competitive dancer and came to see MaryRose for an Ashiatsu session as part of her athletic treatment. MaryRose provided a safe and nurturing environment and was able to relieve chronic pain in her feet from tight arches "dancers feet" in just one session! My daughter LOVED MaryRose!! She did not feel sore afterwards and has not had any pain in her feet in over a month! We are so grateful to have MaryRose as part of our family's wellness team!" - S. Chada 2021
